I'm always pinning toddler activities on pinterest, but it seems I rarely get around to looking at them or doing any of them. Lately we've had a lot of days when we've had to stay inside, so we are finally trying some of them out. This one I would say has been our biggest success. It also cost nothing and needed no preparation, so that made it even better!
All I did was take a paper bag, put a color on it, and have Jamie go around the apartment and fill the bag with objects of that color. I expected he would enjoy it once or twice, but he just loved doing it and didn't want to stop. We ran out of colors before he lost interest. Amazing!
The fruits of his labors:
Jamie also enjoyed playing with some of his findings as he went along...
He really had a great time with this. What I thought would probably be a 10 minute activity took up an hour of our morning and kept going after Jamie got up from his nap. Clean up is going to take a bit longer than usual tonight, but it was worth it.

ReplyDeleteWhat a good way to have fun and to also train Jamie's mind!

ReplyDeleteYou could do that with things like shapes and sizes too, as well as soft and hard, or wet and dry (or maybe not that one), etc.
