Before we left for France, I had Jamie answer some questions about Thomas just for fun for Father's Day... (his answers are in blue)

My daddy's name is Thomas.
He is 3 years old.
My daddy weighs 1 pound.
He is as big as Jamie.
My daddy is so strong he could lift a ogre.
He has red hair and hazel eyes.
His favorite food is nuts.
His favorite color is red.
My daddy always says ridiculous things.
He likes to go to school.
My daddy's job is to go to school.
For fun he likes to play.
He laughs when he loves to.
My daddy cooks the best hamburgers I ever see.
My favorite thing to do with my daddy is play Darth Vader.
I love my daddy because I love that he is making money.

Happy Father's Day, Thomas! We love you!

birthday party

This afternoon Jamie had his first ever birthday party! As we are leaving tomorrow, I wanted to keep things small, so we only invited two other little boys. Jamie was very excited about it all day and didn't want to wait until the afternoon. Other than his having a hard time sharing some of his toys, I think it went well. His favorite parts were definitely the cupcakes and playing with his balloon at the end. Looking forward to celebrating even more later this week!

We had some extra batter so I let Jamie fill the mini cupcake pan all by himself.

opening presents

Jamie was so excited about the cupcakes that he had grabbed one off the table and started eating the frosting before I even realized it! What a stinker.

Right after I finally let him have a balloon to play with. That was one happy boy!

My mom always had a tradition of taking a picture of us on the couch surrounded by our birthday presents. I can't do it with all his presents this year, since he opened some here and will open some in France, but here are the ones from the party at least! Thomas and I got him 5 Curious George books, and from his friends he got some activity books that are going to be wonderful for the plane rides! He also got a book about a boy named Jamie who has a pet bird named Thomas from a friend in Missouri and a t-shirt from his great-aunt.

time with family!

After nearly 3 weeks alone with Jamie, I was overjoyed to have a week spent with family. My parents came to visit last Sunday night and stayed with us three days. Then on Thursday, we all headed down to Atlanta together to spend a few days with my brother and his family. The week flew by, and now, somehow, there are only TWO days left until we go to France! HOW is that possible?! So thankful that we got to have some help in speeding those last days along. We had a great week.

And now for the pictures...
Jamie LOVED having his grandparents here!
We took them to the Sunsphere...
and to the library downtown...
had dinner at Tupelo Honey Cafe...
and got gelato for dessert :)
LOTS of playtime

lunch at the Old Mill Bread Company
then it was time to head to Uncle Mark and Aunt Sarah's! Jamie passed some of the time by reading stories to Curious George.
Adriana was the patient, Elena was her mom, and Jamie was the doctor
Sweet baby Christine! She was all smiles the whole time. What a happy girl.

It was IMPOSSIBLE to get a good picture of all 4 of the in the pool together.
Jamie was so cute with Christine. He wanted to hold her several times and sang her "Twinkle, Twinkle" more than once.
National Doughnut Day (who knew?!) meant free Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

big boxes make the best toys

going for a walk
walking their babies :)
Jamie's birthday is now less than a week away! He got to open a couple of presents from his cousins.

When we got back to Knoxville, Jamie got to open his present from my parents.
Lucky boy got new hot wheels, an ambulance, a cool crashing truck with which he is in love, new tools, stickers, and two stuffed dinosaurs!
And now I'm off to start packing!!!
