weekend in the Smokies

This year Thomas and his parents had fall break the same weekend. We all spent it together at a cabin they rented just outside the national park. The cabin was so cute and homey. We had a great time eating way too much, soaking in the hot tub, playing games, reading stories, chasing little boys, and simply relaxing.

We went on one short hike and had a picnic lunch in the Metcalf Bottoms area, which was only about 10 minutes from the cabin. Jacob actually walked almost the whole thing! The trail ended at an old schoolhouse that both the boys loved playing in. It was the perfect weather for a hike!

This picture makes me laugh so hard. He wasn't even grumpy; he was just making a silly face.
He LOVED yelling "Boo!" out the window.

More fun back at the cabin...

Jamie's addition to the guest book. :)
After leaving the cabin, we spent the afternoon back at home in Knoxville before Faith & Patrick had to head back to Missouri the following morning.

Our attempt at a group picture didn't go so well...

The weather was so beautiful we had no choice but to go play outside.

It was a great weekend, and it flew by in a flash! Looking forward to next time...
